A MESSAGE FROM MVN SWIM BOARD |
Dear Mission Viejo Nadadores Families: The New Year has arrived and 2008 will be very exciting year. We have hit the ground running as all our families have jumped in to help with three back-to-back events at the MVN Complex. The pace doesn’t end there as Head Coach Bill Rose continues to prepare our Olympic Prospect Group for the Olympic Trials in June followed the Beijing Olympics in August. Olympic years are always especially great to be part of the Swimming community. On another note, we have successfully moved to the “computer” age with our Club Assist program. Thank you for getting your information into the office and keeping your account updated. We will be completely running through Club Assist by April 1, 2008. All families who have not fully adopted this program will have to do so by the specified date. Accuracy of billing, amounts due, and timely payment are greatly eliminated with our automated system and all families need to adapt to this change During the 2008 year you will continue to see coaching, staff and team development and education. Parent education and information courses will also continue to be provided throughout the year. Swimmers will also continue to receive national level clinics, placement in limited group sizes, dry land and cross training along with motivational and educational speakers or courses. Additional value added programs will be reviewed and presented during the course of the year. On a more local level, we are preparing for changes ahead with the pool renovation project. Many of you have been asking and are concerned about how and when the proposed renovation will affect our team. The most current information we have at this time is that the architectural plans will be drawn up and sent out for bid approximately March of 2009. That process will take a few months with a tentative ground breaking occurring August of 2009. The exact status of our facility has not yet been determined but so far two possibilities are being discussed.
The MVN Board will be taking active roles in these discussions to present the best option for our team while also allowing the city to meet their needs. Our General Manager, Mike Lewis has been working tirelessly to secure water space for our team. He will continue to focus on that part of the project and continue to strengthen our relationship with the city of Mission Viejo. We would also like to encourage help from our membership to look and secure water space in the late 2009 and early 2010 year. This 2008 swim year is off and running and proving to be an exciting time for MVN athletes and families. Please help to ensure that our children continue to have a positive swimming experience and provide a positive outlook even in times of change. We encourage open and clear communication and will provide as much information in the months ahead. Sincerely,
