The Mission Viejo Nadadores showed our dominance at the SCS 2013 Junior Olympics January 18th through the 21st at Golden West College in Huntington Beach.
10 year old Ella Ristic placed first in 50 Bk, 50 Fr, 100 Fr and 100 Bk while Malia Mills took first in 50 Br, 200 IM, 100 Br and 100 IM. Also, Mia Ristic broke 30 seconds in the 50 fly to take first with a 29.76. Girls Medley and Free relays consisting of Ella Ristic, Mia Ristic, Malia Mills and Emma Diaz cleaned up with two first place finishes while the boys Medley and Free relays did the same with Killian McShane, Daneil Lew, Michael Snodgrass, Alex Borjal, and Jack Trujillo.
The unique set up of the meet put Mission Viejo 11 year old girls in the spotlight with each female athlete making it back for a second swim. All 11-12 relays were won by the Nadadores boys and girls! 5 11-12 team records were broken over the weekend: 200 & 400 Free Relays and 200 Medley Relay all with Sam Shelton, Alicia Stewart, Vicky Gong and Jessica Epps. The individual 50 Fly was broken by Jessica Epps while the 1,000 Free SCS record was smashed by Samantha Shelton!
13 and 14 year old girls with outstanding swims included Mackinsey Goldman first in 1000 Free and second in 1650 Free, Maureen McShane first in 1000 Free and second in 500 and 1650 Free and Rachel Taylor first in 100 Br & 200 Br and second in 1000 Free and 400 IM. 13 and 14 year old boys looked impressive with Matt Hales taking first in 1000 Free, 200 IM, 500 Free, 400 IM, and second in the 1650 Free. Shane Forker took first in 1000 Free and second in 1650 Free and 500 Free. Min Zhi Chua placed 1st in 100 Breast and second in 400 IM, 200 Breast, and 100 Back while Marc Morizono was first in 50 Free and 100 Fly and was second in 100 Free. Alex Qu took second in 200 IM, 400 IM, and 100 Back. David Bourgoin finished top 5 in all 6 freestyle events from the 50 up to the 1650. The 13-14 boys also took home the gold in 5 out of 5 relays!
Congratulations to all our Nadadores that competed in the 2013 Junior Olympics. It was an outstanding meet from our youngest athletes to our oldest!
